the junction of the A142 and the A1123, on the southern edge of  of Soham. 

Downfield windmill was originally a smock mill on an octagonal brick base and an octagonal timber tower, but in 1890 the cap and sails were blown off, and the tower was rebuilt in brick.
It was restored to working order by Nigel Moon, who ran it for some years, in the 1960s, but has become dilapidated in recent years and has again been restored by its new owner, who is about to replace the sails.
