A 5-storey Georgian cotton mill, built in 1784. Now a working museum of the cotton textile industry, with working looms and other machinery, powered by a 50-ton Fairbairn waterwheel and a working 1840s steam engine. Owned by the National Trust.

Opening times 2018
Mill closed for lift installation until 23rd July to 5th November, then open daily, 10.30-17.00. 7th November - 30th December, Wednesday to Sunday 10.30-16.00. See web site for further details. Groups during opening hours by prior arrangement.
