Raindale Watermill, York Castle Museum

In the centre of York, at the Castle Museum.

This mill stood originally on the North Yorkshire moors at the foot of the Raindale valley, near Pickering. Moved to the museum in 1953 and restored to turning order, with a 14ft overshot waterwheel dating from around 1800 and a single pair of millstones. 

Opening times 2017
The mill opens from 11am - 2pm, usually on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plus occasional extra ad hoc days. However, as it is manned by trained volunteers, times and days are subject to change at the last minute. To find out when the Mill will be open, please call Philip Newton on 01904 650329.
