One mile south of Milnthorpe and six miles north of Carnforth on A6. Brown signs at entrance to Beetham. On M6, take exit 35 to Carnforth.

The mill dates from about 1740 and has some contemporary machinery. A Lowder mill, with four pairs of millstones and an internal high breast waterwheel, all working. Picnic area. A turbine has been installed in the river to generate electricity, which can be viewed from the mill.

Opening times 2018
Wednesday to Sunday and bank holidays, all year, 11.00-16.00. Group guided tours & milling on first Friday each month and by appointment. See also web site.

Saturday & Sunday, 11.00 - 16.00. Victorian Games. Saturday 11.00 - 16.00.  Celebrate National Mills Weekend with Iron Shepherds Living History, as they present an outdoor fun day to demonstrate how the Victorians entertained themselves! Explore a variety of traditional games and toys, learn how the lower classes made fun from very little, and see how things have changed today!
Entry to this event is FREE, with homemade refreshments available from the barn, and freshly baked loaves for sale from the Shepherds Hut.
