Sherborne Steam & Waterwheel Centre (Formerly Castleton Water Pumping Station)

½ mile E of Sherborne town centre. Follow signs for Sherborne Old Castle. 120 yds E of Castleton Road junction.

A 26-ft diameter breastshot waterwheel, built in 1869 to pump water to the town. Now operational, generates 38HP, driving an 1883 pump set. In 2012 its is hoped to have a Hindley steam engine operating on open days: details will be on our web site.

Opening times 2016
May to October; one Sunday each month

Party visits at other times by arrangement.
