Bourne Watermill, Colchester

Location
Grid reference: TM 006 238
OS sheet: 168
Postcode: CO2 8RT
In Bourne Road, off Mersea Road, B1025. Take 5th turning on L from roundabout. See brown sign.

The current structure was built in 1591 and was probably both a working watermill and a fishing lodge.    It later flourished fulling wool. Some machinery, including the waterwheel, remains intact and turning. Owned by the National Trust. In 2016 we celebrate vintage power with a pedal-powered fulling machine.
