Lode Mill,  nr Alstonefield

Location
Grid reference:  SK 146 551
OS Map: 119

Postcode: DE6 2GA

Off A515,
¾ mile off the Alstonefield Road, just by the fork to Milldale.  Mill is on N side of road, at bend.

Lode Mill, on the River Dove, has been derelict for over fifty years, but has been undergoing a renovation as a holiday let for the last five years. It is unusual in that much of the original machinery still exists including a wooden Hurst Frame housing three pairs of stones.
The mill structure is interesting internally, and is detailed in archaeological surveys available at www.lodemill.com/flood
